Adidas won't renew NHL uniform and apparel deal

Adidas says it won't seek to renew a uniform and apparel deal with the NHL after the 2023-2024 season, the NFL confirmed to ESPN on Thursday. There are two years remaining on the current seven-year deal.

The NHL is making it known to other apparel companies and apparel rights are on the table for negotiation. When Adidas replaced Reebok in the 2017-18 season, reportedly Adidas was paying double the $35 million annually Reebok had been paying for the rights.

Sharks to retire Marleau's jersey number

The Sharks are retiring the No. 12 jersey of 42-year-old center/left wing Patrick Marleau, the NHL's all-time games played leader and the holder of nearly every Sharks franchise scoring record, NHL.com reported. He will be the first member of the Sharks franchise to have a jersey retired. Marleau played in three NHL All-Star games and won two gold medals with Canada at the 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympics.

Rangers reach 2-year extension with Kaapo Kakko

The Rangers announced they have agreed on a two-year contract extension with forward Kaapo Kakko, 21, who was a second overall pick by New York in the 2019 NHL draft, NHL.com reported. The deal is reportedly worth $4.2 million.

Joseph reaches 4-year, $11.8 million contract with Senators

The Ottawa Senators have agreed to a four-year, $11.8 Million contract with 25-year-old forward Mathieu Joseph. The deal has an annual value of $2.95 million, NHL.com reported. Joseph was part of the Tampa Bay Lightning Stanley Cup-winning teams in 2020 and 2021.

Kings to retire Dustin Brown's number

The Los Angeles Kings will retire the No. 23 of forward Dustin Brown, 37, who retired last season following the team being eliminated in game seven of the Western Conference first round, NHL.com reported. Brown will be the seventh Kings player to have his number retired.

Brown played in the 2009 All-Star game and won two Stanley cups with the team in 2012 and 2014. He won the foundation player award in 2011 and the Mark Messier leadership award in 2014.

Sharks sign Quinn as new coach

The San Jose Sharks have signed David Quinn, 56, Bob Boughner, who was fired July 1, is coach, NHL.com reported. Quinn was fired as coach of the Rangers in May 2021, after going 96-87-25 in three seasons.
