We’re less than a month away from the start of the 2021 NFL playoffs, which means there’s no better time to make some very bold predictions than right now, right?
The NFL playoffs always seem to be full of insanity, especially during the first weekend, which makes it very difficult to say for certain who’s going to make it to the Super Bowl. All any of us really know is to expect the unexpected when it comes to post-season football.. Though so many teams are in the playoff mix — and only a handful of teams currently have guaranteed playoff spots — I’m still ready to make some predictions. From who I think will win the Super Bowl to the team I believe will lose in their first game, read on to see what I believe will happen this season.
The Steelers Will Lose Their First Game
There, I said it. Just two weeks ago the Pittsburgh Steelers were the last undefeated team in football and looked like they couldn’t be stopped. However, after losing back-to-back games to the Washington Football Team and the Buffalo Bills, the Steelers are no longer invincible.
In fact, I’m not sure the Steelers are even the third-best team in the AFC. Now, before all of Steelers Nation comes after me, I want to add that the Steelers could definitely make the Super Bowl. Heck, they could even win it all! But, as of right now, it’s clear their team is vulnerable.
The Packers Will Make the Super Bowl
For the majority of the season, it has looked like the New Orleans Saints would be the NFC Champions. They have a solid quarterback, great offensive threats, and a very good defense. While the Saints could still make the Super Bowl, I predict the Green Bay Packers will upset them in the NFC Championship game.
Aaron Rodgers has been on fire as of late and the team seems to be building more confidence as the season’s gone on. Not to mention, Saints quarterback Drew Brees has been out the past few weeks, and though he’ll almost certainly be back for the playoffs, there’s no saying he’ll be 100%.
The NFC East Team Will Win One Game
The NFC East has been the laughing stock of the NFL this season. None of the four teams have a winning record and all of them are still in contention to win their division. Whichever wildcard team has to play the NFC East winner should be counting their lucky stars, but I have a weird feeling about that game.
In fact, call me crazy, but I think whichever NFC East team gets that playoff spot will win their first game. Whether it’s Washington, New York, Philadelphia, or Dallas, they’ll have nothing to lose and zero expectations to live up to.
The Kansas City Chiefs Will Win Back-to-Back Super Bowls
OK, this isn’t necessarily a bold prediction considering the Kansas City Chiefs are probably the best team in the NFL, but it’s very rare for a team to win back-to-back Super Bowls. In fact, the last team to do it was the New England Patriots in 2004 and 2005. The Kansas City Chiefs are certainly vulnerable and they are beatable, but I don’t know if anyone will be able to stop them this year.
Not only is Patrick Mahomes is the best player in the NFL, but the Chiefs also have arguably the best receiver and the best tight end in the game with Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce. It’ll no doubt be a tough road to even make the Super Bowl for the Chiefs, but I believe they’re going to bring another Lombardi Trophy to Kansas City in 2021.
