Kevin Harvick wins the NASCAR Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway
Having only led 13 laps this season going into Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway, Kevin Harvick put an end to a 65-race winless streak by taking the victory by 2.9 seconds.
Harvick led 38 laps at Michigan and qualified himself for a spot on the playoff grid.
It is the first time Harvick has won a race since Sept. 19, 2020, at Bristol Motor Speedway, and he had eight other victories that same year, NBC Sports reported.
Wallace upset with second-place finish at Michigan
Bubble Wallace wasn't in a celebratory mood despite his fourth consecutive top ten finish, placing second on Sunday, and winning the pole at Michigan International Speedway, NBC Sports reported.
"Second doesn’t get you in the playoffs," Wallace said. "This is way worse than Daytona. Daytona, we kind of just fell into that one. This one we had the car. "
Kyle Busch out early with crash at Michigan
Early in Sunday's race at Michigan International Speedway, a multi-car crash eliminated Kyle Busch.
"Can’t buy a break," Bush told NBC Sports. "Just got squeezed between the 10 (Aric Almirola) spinning and myself and the fence."
The race marked the eighth consecutive cup race where Busch has failed to finish in the top ten. It is also the longest streak in his career. Busch finished 36th out of the 37-car field.
