MLB: Phillies and Astros to face off in the World Series

The Philadelphia Phillies clinched their first NL pennant since 2009 as they defeated the San Diego Padres 4-3 in game 5 on Sunday. The Phillies were led by Bryce Harper, who slugged his fifth homer of the postseason with a two-run blast in the eighth inning, 6 ABC reported. Harper signed the richest free-agent deal in baseball history, $330 million, and he delivered in the clutch, a defining moment in his four-year Philadelphia career.

The Houston Astros completed a sweep of the New York Yankees on Sunday to earn a trip to the World Series for the fourth time in six years, USA Today reported.

The end for the Bronx Bombers came when a Yankee error set the stage for a two-run rally, topped by Alex Bregman’s go-ahead single, which pushed the Astros to a 6-5 victory.

Game 1 of the World Series is Friday, October 8, in Houston, with AL Cy Young Award favorite Justin Verlander likely squaring off against Phillies' right-handers Zack Wheeler or Aaron Nola.

NFL: Fans roast Brady and Rodgers as washed up after losses

Fans are fickle, and how quickly they turn on you when you're not on top. Such is the case with quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady.

Green Bay suffered its third consecutive defeat on Sunday as Rodgers and the Packers lost 23-21 to the Washington commanders. Rodgers was 0-of-6 for third-down conversions and finished with 194 total yards passing. Fans on Twitter were calling Rogers "washed up," USA Today reported. The Packers are now 3-5 behind the 5-1 Vikings in the NFC North.

The Buccaneers lost to the Panthers, giving Carolina its second win of the season (2-5), despite Brady going 32-for-49 with 290 yards. Tampa Bay was seemingly unable to find the end zone, Fox reported. Amazingly, the Bucs still lead the NFC South at 3-4. Fans were ruthless afterward, with some saying "he is washed up" and others saying he should've "stayed retired," NESN reported.

NASCAR: Larson rebounds to win at Homestead

After the fiasco and drama in Las Vegas with Bubba Wallace, who was suspended for one race, Larson said on Saturday he had hoped to turn the storyline back to the track. On Sunday, Larson made that happen, leading 199 of the 267 laps, including the final 22, Fox reported. The victory was the 19th Cup victory for Larson.

"Cool to get a win here at Homestead," Larson said. "I’ve been probably the best car and team every time I’ve came here. .... It’s neat to finally get it done."

NBA: Jazz stay undefeated

The Utah Jazz remained undefeated with their third consecutive victory on Sunday night with a 122-121 overtime victory against the New Orleans Pelicans, NBA.com reported.

"Our team has got heart," said head coach Will Hardy. "We got some stuff to clean up, we got some things to work on. But we got heart for sure."
