There’s no doubt Alex Morgan is an absolute superstar. At just 31 years of age, Morgan has already won two World Cup Championships, an Olympic gold medal, and has scored over 100 goals for the United States Women’s National Soccer Team. Oh, and she’s still going for more. Morgan has easily become the most recognizable player both on and off the field after starting her career with the US team as a teenager. She has over 9 million followers on Instagram, she’s friends with major celebrities (like Taylor Swift), and is in a new commercial seemingly every other day.

Late Bloomer
While most soccer players start playing very competitively at a young age, Morgan started a bit late. In fact, she didn’t start playing club soccer until she was 14 years old. Despite getting a late start, Morgan was obviously a natural and quickly became one of the best players in the country.
Found Love in College
Morgan is married to fellow soccer player Servando Carrasco, whom she met in college. They both were playing soccer for UC Berkeley and began dating their freshman year. They got engaged in December 2013 and tied the knot in 2014.
New York Times Best Selling Author
Along with being an incredible soccer player, Morgan is also a New York Times best-selling author! She wrote a book for middle school readers called Saving the Team in 2013, which is about four young girls who love soccer.
Saving the Team debuted at number seven on the NYT’s list for Children’s Middle Grade. The book was so popular, in fact, that a live-action kids comedy based on the novel began airing on Amazon Prime in 2015!
Cover Girl
After first posing for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue back in 2012, Morgan was actually one of the magazine’s cover girls in 2019! She, along with Tyra Banks and Camille Kostek, had their own cover.
Motherhood Won’t Stop Her
After winning the 2019 Women’s World Cup, Morgan announced she and her husband were expecting their first child in 2020. In May 2020, Morgan welcomed their first child, daughter Charlie.
Though she took a little bit of time off to focus on her baby, Morgan quickly jumped back into soccer and is currently playing with the Tottenham Hotspurs in England. Morgan is determined to balance motherhood and her soccer career for as long as she continues to play.
Fifth All-Time Scorer
Morgan has scored 107 goals in her career. Though she’ll almost certainly score more goals before her career is finished, she is currently tied fifth on the US Women’s National Team all-time top goal scorers list.
She is actually tied with Michelle Akers, who also scored 107 goals in her career. Carli Lloyd is fourth with 123 goals, Kristine Lilly is is third with 130, Mia Hamm is second with 158, and Abby Wambach tops the list with a whopping 184 goals.
