Sports Bits: Djokovic Out for US Open, Tyson Thinks He'll Die 'Really Soon'

Novak Djokovic is out of US Open, as he is banned from entering US over vaccine status. Mike Tyson says he thinks he's going to die "really soon." Warriors' Klay Thompson gifts Make-A-Wish fan prized Kobe memento.

Novak Djokovic out for US Open due to vaccine status

Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic is unvaccinated, a status that already barred him from playing in the Australian Open due to his anti-vaccination stance, The Guardian reported. The 35-year-old, three-time champion at Flushing Meadows will now be barred from playing in the U.S. Open.

The U.S. Open, which does not have its own vaccination policy, announced it will respect the United States government's rules on vaccination, which requires all non-citizens to be fully vaccinated to enter the country.

Mike Tyson says he thinks he's going to die "really soon"

Legendary boxer Mike Tyson has surprised everyone with the grim prognostication he offered during his podcast "Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson." While speaking to therapist Sean McFarland, who specializes in trauma and addiction, Tyson declared that he feels he will soon pass away, the New York Post reported.

"We’re all gonna die one day of course," Tyson said. "Then, when I look in the mirror, I see those little spots on my face, I say, 'Wow. That means my expiration date is coming close, really soon.'"

Tyson then went on to discuss money and fame, and how it's a delusion to think those things bring happiness.

"Money don’t mean s–t to me," Tyson continued. "I always tell people — they think money’s gonna make them happy...when you have a lot of money, you can’t expect nobody to love you. How am I gonna confess my love to you when you have $500 billion?"

"You believe that you’re invincible when you have a lot of money, which isn’t true," Tyson added. "That’s why I always say money is a false sense of security."

Warriors' Klay Thompson gifts Make-A-Wish fan a heartwarming, prized Kobe memento

A 15-year-old boy named Joseph Tagaban has undergone nine months of treatment for a rare form of cancer. And as part of ESPN's "My Wish" series, in partnership with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, he was granted his wish: To meet Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson, NBC Sports reported.

But Thompson surprised the young fan with an unexpected gift: An autographed photo of Kobe Bryant inside a black folder that Thompson received when he attended the 2007 Nike Kobe Skills Academy when he was a high school camper.

"For real?" Tagaban asked Thompson, surprised he was being offered the once-in-a-lifetime gift.

"Yeah, man, that’s yours," Thompson replied.
