Stafford Matches Pass Record, Injuries to McAfee and Prescott, Brady in the Doghouse?

Stafford matches Brees' record, cleat injuries to Panthers' McAfee and Cowboys' Prescott, NFL honors Queen Elizabeth II, and Tom Brady reportedly dealing with marriage issues from his decision to un-retire.

Rams Matthew Stafford matches Drew Brees' record

During Thursday night's season-opening game against the Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford matched a record set by former NFL quarterback Drew Brees for the quickest to reach 50,000 passing yards in NFL history, CBSSports reported.

Stafford matched the mark with a 23-yard completion to Cooper Kupp in the first quarter. Stafford accomplished the feat in his 183rd career game. He becomes the 12th quarterback in NFL history to reach 50,000 passing yards in a career.

Stafford also approaching all-time passing yardage record set by John Elway

Stafford entered the season only 1,480 yards behind former NFL quarterback John Elway for all-time career passing yardage with 51,475. Stafford averages 274.7 passing yards per game, and if he keeps that pace, he should surpass the record by the sixth game of the season.

Cleat injuries to Panthers' McAfee and Cowboys' Prescott

Panthers' Christian McAfee was added to the injury report after cleats cut his shin during practice for Week 1. The star running back is coming off two consecutive injury-short seasons. However, Coach Matt Rhule says he has no concerns about the former Pro Bowler not being available for Sunday's game against the Browns, CBSSports reported.

Cowboys' Dak Prescott is on limited practice after a new pair of cleats caused some ankle soreness. However, the quarterback told reporters that he feels "great" overall otherwise and will be ready for the week one game on Sunday against the Buccaneers, CBSSports reported.

NFL honors Queen Elizabeth II at Bills-Rams game

During Thursday night's season-opening game between the Buffalo Bills and the Los Angeles Rams, the NFL held a moment of silence in honor of Queen Elizabeth II, CBSSports reported. The Queen of England visited the United States in 1957 and was shown American football. She attended an ACC football game between the Maryland Terrapins and the North Carolina Tar Heels. Queen Elizabeth's attendance at the game, which was won 21-7 by Maryland, was remembered Thursday by the Pro Football Hall of Fame, which posted a photograph on Twitter showing her on the sidelines meeting with captains of both teams.

Brady reportedly dealing with marriage issues from decision to un-retire

People were wary of the rumors that emerged last month that Tom Brady and his wife Gisele Bündchen were having marital difficulties. Gossips insisted that was the reason behind the legendary quarterback's prolonged absence from training camp, missing 11 days, Complex reported.

Now, TMZ is reporting that Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady are not living together as they work to smooth out a 'rough patch' in their marriage following his decision to un-retire, after initially leaving the NFL to focus on his family.
