Titans Derrick Henry gets $2M raise, now highest-paid RB in NFL

The Tennessee Titans have given Derrick Henry a $2 million raise, making him the highest-paid running back for the 2022 NFL season, CBSSports reported. Henry, 28, will now earn a base salary of $14 million this season and is under contract with the Titans through 2023.

Henry missed out on nine games last year due to a fracture but still approached a thousand yards rushing and scored ten touchdowns. Two years prior, Henry had a historic 2000-yard rushing season and a league-leading 17 scores.

Broncos give Wilson $245M contract extension,

The Denver Broncos and quarterback Russell Wilson have agreed to a five-year, $245 million contract extension that includes a $165 million guarantee, the second highest in NFL history, the Denver channel reported. The new deal will keep the QB tied to Denver for a total of seven years and $296 million, King5 reported.

Former Chiefs WR Josh Gordon signs with Titans,

Former Chiefs wide receiver Josh Gordon has signed with the Tennessee Titans and has been added to their practice squad, CBSSports reported. Gordon was released by the Chiefs earlier this week.

Last year, Gordon, 31, only caught five passes for 32 yards and 1 touchdown in 12 games. In Gordon's second year in the league with the Browns, he led the NFL in receiving with 1646 yards, 87 catches, and nine touchdowns. However, a substance abuse violation suspended Gordon for the 2015 and 2016 seasons. Gordon has also played for the Patriots and the Seahawks.

Ohio State QB C. J. Stroud gifts game day suits to entire team

Second-year Ohio State starting quarterback C.J. Stroud gifted each of his teammates a $500 gift card to Express to buy game-day new suits for the 2022 season, 10TV reported. "I just wanted to do something for the team, so I get everybody $500 gift cards to go to Express and get y’all own suit," Stroud said. "Make sure y’all really get some suits, look fly. Make sure we all look good as a team."

Stroud finished fourth in the Heisman Trophy voting last year, and he and wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba have an NIL deal with Columbus-based fashion retailer Express, Sports Illustrated reported.

Former Buccaneers DE Steve White dead at 48

Former NFL defensive end Steve White, who played seven seasons in the league with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New York Jets, has died at the age of 48 after an eight-year battle with leukemia, People reported.

White played college ball for Tennessee and was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in Round 6 of the 1996 NFL draft. He retired after the 2002 season with 119 career tackles and 11.5 sacks.
