Warriors' Steph Curry to Host 2022 ESPYS Show

Steph Curry, widely regarded as one of the best basketball players of all time, says he's honored to be selected as host for the "exciting" 2022 ESPYS. The award show will be held on July 20 at 5 PM PT, live on ABC

Steph Curry, point guard for the Golden State Warriors, has been tapped to host the 2022 ESPYS show. The award ceremony will air live from the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles on ABC beginning at 5 PM PT/8 PM ET on Wednesday, July 20, 2022.

Curry has previously attended the award show, recently winning best NBA player in 2021. In 2015, he also won best NBA player, as well as best male athlete, NBC reported. However, this will be Curry's first time hosting the prestigious sports ceremony.

"I've had the pleasure of attending The ESPYS but never imagined I'd have the privilege of hosting this special event," Curry said in a statement. "As someone who loves the intersection of sports and entertainment, I look forward to delivering an exciting show for the fans while we celebrate the athletes who created the top moments of the year."

Curry was the MVP of the 2022 NBA finals and holds the record as the greatest shooter in NBA history. Curry has been named the NBA's most valuable player twice and has won four NBA championships plus an NBA All-Star game MVP award. He holds the all-time record for scoring 402 three-pointers in a single season.

2022 ESPY nominees and awards

In addition to hosting the 2022 ESPY Awards, Stephen Curry is one of the nominees, along with Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers and Olympic track and field champion Allyson Felix, all of whom are among those receiving multiple nominations, Chiff reported.

Curry is nominated for best male athlete, best NBA player, and best record-breaking performance.

Some awards have already been announced, such as the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance which will be presented to ESPN college basketball broadcaster Dick Vitale, currently recovering from cancer.

Vitali Klitschko, former boxing champ and current mayor of Kyiv, Ukraine, will receive the Arthur Ashe Courage Award.

Gretchen Evans--athlete, and retired Army Command Sergeant Major--will receive the 2022 Pat Tillman Award for Service.
