Yadi Molina joins Yogi Berra in MLB record

St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina joined legendary catcher Yogi Berra in the record books on Sunday. Molina recorded his 1,000th hit at Busch Stadium, making him only the second catcher in baseball history, after Berra, to register 1,000 career hits at a single ballpark, KSDK reported. Molina becomes the first player to record 1,000 hits at Busch Stadium III, and it brings his career total to 2,144.

Cardinals' Nolan Arenado named NL Player of the Week

St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado has been named the National League player of the week from August 1 to August 7. It is the second time this season Arenado has won the NL player of the week award, bringing his career total to eight, KSDK reported. During that time span, Arenado hit .476 with three home runs, eight RBIs and a 1.560 OPS, helping the Cards go 6-0 during the week, sweeping the Cubs and Yankees at Busch Stadium. On Sunday, Arenado drove in four runs.

Dennis Eckersley retiring from Red Sox broadcast booth

Dennis Eckersley, a former pitcher who was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2004, has been broadcasting the Boston Red Sox games as a color commentator for NESN (New England sports network) since 2003. Sadly, he is retiring from the booth, NESN reported. Eckersley, 67, caps off a 20-year run as a commentator, having spent 50 years and organized baseball, 24 of those years as an MLB player. He is the first of two players in MLB history to have both a 20-when season and a 50-save season in a career.

Giants Hunter Pence to be added to team's Wall of fame

Right fielder Hunter Pence, who played with the San Francisco Giants from 2012 to 2018, where he was part of two World Series championship teams, and again in 2020, will be added to the team's wall of fame. A plaque for Pence will be unveiled during an on-field ceremony before a game against rivals the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday, September 17. Pence will be the 55th person to be added to the Giants wall of fame, NBC Sports reported.

Giants Camilo Doval makes record-tying pitch

San Francisco Giants pitcher Camilo Doval threw a pitch that showed 103 mph on the scoreboard on Monday night. It technically registered at 102.9 mph and it tied with a pitch made by Brian Wilson in 2009 for the fastest pitch ever thrown by a Giants pitcher. It's also the fastest pitch of Doval's career, NBC Sports reported.
