Crowd gets ugly when fishing champions caught cheating
The crowd at the Lake Erie Walleye Trail Championship in Cleveland, Ohio, was furious after a cheating controversy was revealed. Chase Cominsky from Pennsylvania and Jake Runyon from Ohio initially won the event, but the story didn't stop there.
Something felt off as the pair's catch weighed in at 33 pounds, nearly double the weight of their nearest competitor's catch. The tournament director decided to gut one of the fish and found it was stuffed with lead sinkers. He then announced to the crowd, "We got weights on the fish!"
The judges then cut all of their fish and found something stuffed inside almost every one of them, Fox reported. The crowd grew angry, hurling insults. Some even threatened to call the police, saying the duo should be arrested for attempted theft of the $5000 prize money.
