Yankees rout Red Sox to top MLB at All-Star break

After losing five of six games to the Red Sox, the Yankees triumphed for a second straight day with a 13-2 win on Sunday, the New York Post reported.

Going into the All-Star break, the Yankees have the best record in the major leagues at 64-28, with a 13-game lead over second-place Tampa Bay in the AL East.

The next best record in the MLB belongs to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West at 60-30.

Braves ace Max Fried pulls out of All-Star game, Braves have six players in the All-Stars

Even though Braves ace pitcher Max Fried earned his first nod to the All-Star game, he has backed out of pitching after throwing 94 pitches over seven innings in Saturday's win over the Nationals, 95.5WSB Reported.

Fried will be replaced by Milwaukee Brewers’ reliever Devin Williams on the National League’s roster. Six Atlanta Braves players have been selected for the All-Star game, five of them first-timers. The only veteran to the All-Stars is Ronald Acuña who also will participate in Monday’s Home Run Derby.

The MLB All-Star Game will be played at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on Tuesday night.

Celebrity All-Star game highlights: JoJo Siwa HR

Dancer and singer JoJo Siwa apparently has another hidden skill. The 19-year-old slammed an impressive inside-the-park home run at the 2022 MLB All-Star celebrity softball game at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on Saturday. The home run came off a pitch by rapper/singer Quavo, the frontman of hip-hop trio Migos. He was not pleased, Today reports.

Other stars who took to the field were Rob Lowe, Chloe Kim, Bryan Cranston, Bad Bunny, Joel McHale, and Simu Liu, among others.

Tigers send 2020 No. 1 overall pick Spencer Torkelson to Triple-A Toledo

The Detroit Tigers have sent Spencer Torkelson, their 2020 No. 1 overall pick, a twenty-two-year-old rookie first baseman, back to the Triple-A Toledo Mud Hens. How long he stays in the minor leagues will be determined by his action for the plate and there is no timetable for his return to the Tigers, the Detroit Free Press reported.

During 82 games for the Tigers, Torkelson hit .197 with 11 doubles, five home runs, and 264 at-bats. He also had 76 strikeouts and 29 blocks.
