Tuesday at 4 PM ET was the deadline for NFL teams to reduce their rosters to 53 players. A number of last-minute trades and drops occurred around the league. Here's who went where and who went packing.
The 2022 NFL regular season will kick off on Thursday, September 8.
Top drops and trades: National Football Conference
Dallas Cowboys: Astonishingly, the team has released all quarterbacks except for Dak Prescott, who will be the only QB on the 53-man roster, CBSSports reported. Quarterbacks Cooper Rush and Will Grier have been let go, but that doesn't necessarily mean they won't return. The Cowboys may be watching the QB market to see who has become available.
Philadelphia Eagles: Acquired former defensive back Chauncey Gardner-Johnson from the Saints via trade, NOLA reported. The team released former starting safety Anthony Harris, CBSSports reported.
New York Giants: Despite a strong preseason, quarterback Davis Webb was waived.
Minnesota Vikings: Defensive lineman Armon Watts was waived, and the team acquired DL Ross Blacklock from the Texans. They also released quarterbacks Kellen Mond and Sean Mannion.
Detroit Lions: Despite being a star of the preseason, undrafted free agent WR Tom Kennedy was released, as the Lions have depth at the receiving positions.
Atlanta Falcons: Tight end Anthony Firkser was released.
Carolina Panthers: Acquired wide receiver Laviska Shenault, Jr., from Jacksonville and traded offensive lineman Dennis Daley to Tennessee, ESPN reported.
Washington Commanders: Despite undergoing surgery after being shot on Sunday, the team is keeping its commitment to running back Brian Robinson Jr., keeping him on the roster on Tuesday. He visited the training camp on Wednesday.
Top drops and trades: American Football Conference
Pittsburgh Steelers: Former Dolphins starting quarterback Jesse Davis was acquired from the Vikings via trade, CBSSports reported. The Steelers also acquired linebacker Malik Reed from the Broncos, CBS reported.
Cleveland Browns: Quarterback Josh Rosen was cut. Jacoby Brissett is expected to start the first 11 games of Cleveland’s 2022 season until the return of Deshaun Watson, with Joshua Dobbs serving as backup, Sports Illustrated reported.
Kansas City Chiefs: Former All-Pro WR Josh Gordon was released. The 31-year-old only caught five passes for 32 yards and a touchdown during the 2021 season, CBSSports reported.
Las Vegas Raiders: 2021 first-round pick offensive tackle Alex Leatherwood has been released, CBSSports reported.
Buffalo Bills: The Bills released running back Duke Johnson, who served as a short-pass-catching specialist.
Tennessee Titans: The Titans released quarterback Logan Woodside with the number two slot going to Malik Willis, who will back up starter Ryan Tannehill, CBSSports reported.
Jacksonville Jaguars: Despite being the favorite target of Trevor Lawrence down the stretch in 2021, WR Laquon Treadwell has been dropped.
Houston Texans: The Texans released running back Marlon Mack despite what appeared to be a strong preseason for the former Colts starter.
