NFL signings: Latest news and updates

Here's a rundown of several USFL-to-NFL signings, per CBSSports.

Dallas Cowboys > LB Christian Sam (New Orleans Breakers). Out of college, Sam was a sixth-round pick of the Patriots but never played in a regular-season game.

Las Vegas Raiders > WR Isaiah Zuber (Houston Gamblers). Zuber went and drafted out of college, but was signed by the patriots and played four games in his rookie season before being waived next preseason.

New England Patriots > DL Jeremiah Pharms (Pittsburgh Maulers). He played college ball at Friends University.

Pittsburgh Steelers > DL Doug Costin (Birmingham Stallions). Went undrafted out of Miami University, but signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars, spending most of the season with the practice squad, then spent a week with the Cincinnati Bengals' practice squad in January.

Washington Commanders > CB Channing Stribling (Philadelphia Stars). After going undrafted out of Michigan, he spent time with a handful of NFL practice squads.

Washington Commanders > CB DeJuan Neal (New Jersey Generals). Played college ball at Shepherd University, and spent time as an undrafted free agent with Washington in 2019 before being cut.

Panthers unveil new black alternative helmet for 2022

The Panthers will go all-black for at least one game in the 2022 season, as they have unveiled a new black alternative helmet. The change in helmet marks a first in franchise history for Carolina, who entered the NFL in 1995 and have worn a silver helmet for every game since, CBSSports reported.

The Panthers posted a photo of their all-black look with the new black helmets here on Twitter.

Saints optimistic All-Pro wideout Michael Thomas to be cleared to play in early training camp

New Orleans Saints are optimistic that their wideout Michael Thomas will be medically cleared to play early in training camp. Thomas missed a total of 26 regular-season games over the last two seasons after suffering a major ankle injury and undergoing surgery.

The injury was a devastating blow to the All-Pro wide receiver who broke the NFL record for most catches in a single season with 149 in 2019, CBSSports reported.

Former Bears standout Goldman retiring only weeks after signing with falcons

Veteran defensive tackle Eddie Goldman, 28, who was a standout with the Chicago Bears, and signed a deal with the Falcons only two weeks ago, has now made the decision to retire from the NFL Atlanta announced on Tuesday, CBSSports reported. Goldman is stepping down after 7 seasons in the league. He was a second-round choice of the Bears in 2015. He played college ball at Florida State, helping to win a national championship in 2014 and earning first-team All-ACC honors.
