Watch: Wagner levels protester who ran onto field with smoke bomb
On Monday night's primetime matchup between the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers, a protestor ran onto the field carrying a pink smoke bomb. He was successively eluding security until Rams All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner opted to lend a hand. Wagner ran out from the sidelines in front of the protester, who hoped to draw attention to a trial involving animal rights activists. Wagner leveled him. Steelers Pickett to remain starting QB
After the benching of veteran quarterback Mitch Trubisky, Steelers rookie Kenny Pickett appears to remain as the first-string quarterback for Pittsburgh, according to a report by CBSSports.
Despite a turnover-ridden but promising performance, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said he pulled Trubisky because the offense needed a "spark." Against New York, Pickett went 10 of 13, throwing three interceptions but rushing for two touchdowns.
Seahawks QB Smith has NFL's highest completion rate
The Seattle Seahawks seem to have benefited from their controversial decision to move on from Russell Wilson in a big way, as quarterback Geno Smith leads the NFL with a 77.3% completion rate, CBSSports reports. Moreover, his 77.3% rate is the highest in league history for any quarterback after four games in a season in NFL history (minimum 125 attempts).
Smith has thrown for 1,037 yards with six touchdowns to two interceptions for a 108.0 passer rating (which ranks third in the NFL) and fourth in yards per attempt (7.9).
Alabama RB Gibbs named SEC offensive player of the week
Crimson Tide running back Jahmyr Gibbs has been named as the Southeastern conference offensive player of the week following an impressive two-touchdown performance, Sports Illustrated reported. In Alabama's 49-26 win at Arkansas, Gibbs rushed for 206 yards in only 18 carries, averaging 11.4 yards per rush. His average ranks him as the second-best single-game performance by an Alabama running back in the school's history.
